Sexual Dimorphism by Analysis of Maxillary Sinus Dimensions in a Sample of Egyptian Population Using Cone Beam Computed Tomography
AbstractPurpose: To assess the different dimensions, and the volume of the maxillary sinuses using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). Explore whether these parameters can be used to gender determination. Material and methods: Left and Right maxillary sinus images were obtained for one hundred Egyptian patients divided into three age groups and different parameters (width, length, height, area, perimeter and volume) were measured and calculated. Mean value and standard deviation of left and right sides of maxillary sinuses measurements were evaluated and compared. The data was subjected to statistical analysis using independent t and (ANOVA) test. Results: Comparison maxillary sinus (MS) dimensions (width, length, Height, Area, Perimeter, and Volume) between male and female with in same age groups. Showed higher mean values in males. However, this difference showed a statistical significance in height only in all three age groups. Conclusion: Maxillary sinus height can be used as a support in forensic anthropology for sex identification.

Effect of 5-fluorouracil versus Cisplatin in combination with clove oil in management of Head and Neck Squamous cell carcinoma cell lines
In an attempt to reduce side effects of cancer chemotherapeutic drugs with the use of the natural product such as clove oil, as it considered that natural resources had always been a better supplement than chemicals in drug manufacture and disease treatment especially that chemicals often have hazardous short or long term side effects. The present study was carried out to compare the effect of combination of clove oil with 5-fluorouracil versus clove oil with cisplatin in management of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma cell lines. Material and methods: All tested sets were examined to evaluate cytotoxic effect of tested drugs by MTT assay, cell cycle analysis and level of apoptosis by flowcytometery. Conclusion: The cell cycle analysis demonstrated that the combination of cisplatin and clove oil exhibited an increase in the percentage of cell growth arrest during the G2/M phase compared to other tested and it exhibited an increase in the percentage of apoptotic cells during the Pre-G1 phase compared to other tested sets.

Effect of Plasma Rich in Growth Factors Intra Articular Injection in Management of Patients with Internal Derangement of TMJ Using CT Guided Puncture versus Conventional Technique
Purpose: To evaluate effect of PRGF intra articular injection in patients with internal derangement of TMJ using CT guided versus conventional puncture technique. Materials and methods: Twenty patients with internal derangement without improvement by conservative treatment were divided into two groups: Group I: ten patients underwent arthrocentesis followed by PRGF injection using conventional puncture by anatomical landmarks. Group II: ten patients underwent arthrocentesis followed by PRGF injection using landmark and confirmed by CT. All patients were assessed preoperatively and postoperatively at 1week, 3 and 6 months for pain level, maximum interincisal opening, lateral, protrusive movements, joint tenderness and disk position with MRI after 6 months. Results: In both groups, all clinical variables showed statistical significant discrepancy postoperatively, the discrepancy between both groups was not statistically significant and MRI showed no statistical significant change in disc position. Conclusion: CT confirmed accurate position and depth within TMJ upper compartment in different views, allowed correction with less puncture trials and decreased learning curve of TMJ puncture but it is expensive, time consuming and not available in clinics. Anatomical landmarks is easy and representable method for TMJ puncture but blind technique and needs skill. Single injection of PRGF found efficient in the treatment of internal derangement of TMJ.

Evaluation of Antimicrobial Efficacy of Chitosan as Root Canal Irrigant on Enterococcus faecalis
Purpose: To evaluate the antimicrobial effect of chitosan as root canal irrigant on Enterococcus faecalis in comparison to 3%NaOCL in experimentally infected primary anterior root canals. Materials and methods: Access cavity and mechanical preparation of root canals of 30 extracted primary anterior teeth which were then sterilized at autoclave at 1210 for 15 minutes. These teeth inoculated with Enterococcus faecalis with reference strain ATCC 19433.Then grouped into three groups which were irrigated with 3%NaOCl, 0.5% chitosan and saline respectively. Samples were cultured on bile auscline agar incubated at 370 for 24 hours. Counting of colony forming units formed before and after irrigation was performed. Results: Chitosan had higher antimicrobial effect than saline and lower than NaOCl. Statistical analysis between the groups revealed that there was a statistically significant difference between the three irrigants (P-value = 0.001). Conclusion: Chitosan solution can be used as a natural alternative to sodium hypochlorite in root canal irrigation, but may need to increase its concentration or the time of application inside the root canals and also should be supported by in vivo studies.

Impact of Hydrofluoric Acid Etching Duration on Translucency, Flexural Strength and Surface Topography of Lithium Silicate Based Glass Ceramic
Purpose: The purpose of the present study is to assess the effect of different hydrofluoric acid etching durations on the translucency, flexural strength and surface topography of a lithium silicate-based glass ceramic (LS). Materials and Methods: Forty LS (Obsidian) samples will were constructed and divided into four groups (n=10 each) according the duration of hydrofluoric acid (HF) application including group (I); (control) as received samples without surface treatment, group (II); ceramic surfaces etched with HF for 10 seconds; following the manufacturer’s recommendations, group (III); ceramic surfaces etched with HF for 30 seconds and group (IV); ceramic surfaces etched with HF for 60 seconds. All treated samples were evaluated for translucency (TP) using spectrophotometer, flexural strength using universal testing machine and surface topographic analysis using SEM and profilometer. Obtained values were statistically analyzed. Results: The highest mean value of translucency and biaxial flexural strength were recorded at the control group. Values then gradually decreased in the subsequent etching times to reach its lowest level after 60 seconds. While the lowest mean value of surface roughness (Ra) was recorded at control group. The mean Ra value gradually increased with the subsequent increase in etching times to reach its highest level after 60 seconds. Conclusions: Increasing HF acid etching duration negatively affects the translucency of lithium silicate based glass ceramic; while it has no effect on its biaxial flexural strength or its surface roughness (Ra).Key WordsBiaxial flexural strength (FS), LS (Obsidian), surface roughness, translucency.

Cement retained hand veneered(IB)showed the highest statistically significant color matching acceptance(50% good, 16.67% fair,33.3%adjust).Screw retained group[II] showed statistically significant lower retention mean value than cement retained group[I].The highest statistically significant retention mean value was recorded by press veneered subgroups [C] . Conclusion: While cement retained showed better color matching and resistance to dislodgment than screw retained zirconia CAD/CAM implant supported crowns but the later showed better adaptation. Full contoured showed lowest marginal gap, hand veneered showed highest color matching acceptance and press veneered showed the highest retention mean values.

The Use Of Injectable Platelet Rich Fibrin In The Treatment Of Tempromandibular Joint Hypermobility
Purpose: A prospective consecutive case series study was performed during the period between December 2014 and July 2017, aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of injectable platelet rich fibrin (PRF) in the treatment of tempromandibular joint hypermobility. Patients and methods: Twelve patients suffering from TMJ hypermobility were treated by PRF intra articular injection twice with one month interval. Patients underwent clinical investigation with complete assessment of pain, frequency of dislocation, range of motion and TMJ sounds, this was preformed pretreatment then on first, third, sixth, and ninth months post treatment. Pre and post radiological CBCT was performed to assess the degree of capsular and ligamental laxity (DCLL), and the Condylar position (CP) at maximum range of motion. Results: The results of the study showed that PRF had a highly significant positive effect on the clinical signs and symptoms of TMJ hypermobility over the first 6 months postoperatively, but at 9 months, the results were not sustained on the same clinical improvement level. Conclusion: The injection of PRF is an effective, minimally invasive method that could be used for treatment of TMJ hypermobility by improving capsular and ligamental integrity. Additionally, it significantly improves all signs and symptoms up to 6 months since the TMJ injection, so it is recommended to repeat the procedure yearly.
